Description:

This project submitted in partial completion of the Bachelor of Arts with Honors degree. Calamus Revisions: A Hypermedia Critical Edition is a structured database containing manuscripts, poet's corrected proofs, and multiple printed texts of Walt Whitman's Calamus poems 1 & 2. The entire "Calamus" portion of the Cliffton Barrett manuscript collection appears as a seperate portion of this site, and is being constructed to contain transcriptions and descriptive bibliographies of these documents. SGML model editions of "Calamus 1," or "In Paths Untrodden" interrogate alternative means of representing the physical document in relation to the printed text. Additionally, the various bindings, frontispieces, title pages, and contents of the nine editions of Leaves of Grass will be offered through this site.
