The transcribed "electronic text" versions of letters in the William Francis Brand Collection are made available in two forms:

Original Version: A transcription that retains all of the period spelling, capitalization and punctuation. Letter may include notes about people, places and events.

Modernized Version: A contemporary version that provides ease of reading with modernization of spelling, capitalization, punctuation and grammar. Letter may include notes about people, places and events.

A prose summary of each letter is included along with scanned images of the original document.
