EAF Author: Harriet Jacobs (1813-1897)
Harriet Jacobs was born into slavery in North Carolina, but escaped and made her way to New York City after years in hiding. Under the pen name Linda Brent, Jacobs wrote of her experiences in Incidents in the Life of A Slave Girl, Written by Herself.
