Hannah (Webster) Foster, resident of Brighton, Mass. and of Montreal, was author of the melancholy, popular, and largely factual story The Coquette, or the History of Eliza Wharton (the book went through thirty editions). Foster also authored The Boarding School; or Letters of a Preceptress.
