Jane Goodwin Austin was born Jane Goodwin in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1831. She was educated in Boston, and in 1850, she married Loring H. Austin of Cambridge. Many of Austin's novels are historical in nature, dealing with the Pilgrims and their descendants, such as Standish of Standish . Other novels include Cipher and The Shadow of Moloch Mountain .
