Sumner Lincoln Fairfield, was born in Warwick, Massachusetts, and later lived in Philadelphia. He served as editor and publisher of the North American Magazine. A teacher as well as a poet, Fairfield is the author of The Cities of the Plain; The Heir of the World; The Spirit of Destruction; The Last Night of Pompeii; and The Sisters of Saint.
