(Purdie & Dixon), Williamsburg ,

KING WILLIAM, JUNE 27, 1766. RUN away from the subscriber, on Saturday the 21st of this month, a Negro man slave named POPE; he formerly waited on Mr. Jerman Baker, and afterwards on Mr. James Clark, who sold him to me. He is a likely fellow, of a very dark complexion, about 5 feet 5 inches high, and had on when he went away a pair of old blue breeches, and a short brown linen jacket; I do not know whether he carried any other clothes with him or not. I am apprehensive he will attempt to make his escape out of the colony in some vessel, therefore all masters are desired to take notice of the same. I will give a reward of five pounds to any person that will secure the said fellow, so that I may get him again, in King William county; if out of the colony, to be paid in proportion to the trouble.
ROGER GREGORY.
