Virginia Gazette
(Purdie & Dixon), Williamsburg ,
January 29, 1767.
Run away from the subscriber in Amelia county, about the middle of November last, a well set Mulatto fellow named ANTHONY, about 20 years of age, very cunning and comical in his behavior, and has a scar on the back part of his left arm just above his wrist. Whoever conveys the said fellow to me shall have FORTY SHILLINGS reward, besides what the law allows. No doubt he will endeavour to make his escape out of the colony, therefore all masters of vessels are forewarned from carrying off or harbouring the said slave at their peril.
