My dear Doctor:

I don't know what success you may have had in finding the malarial
parasite at the 2nd Division Hospital. Of course, you fully appreciate
the importance of not only examining the blood of those just admitted
but also of re-examining those same, case 5 (or cases?) [?] [treatment] [B]
having been withheld for 48 to 72 hours.

Another point, we would like to have you select cases in their
2nd week diagnosed as malaria and test for Widal reaction. It is very
important that we should be able to say whether there are cases of
malarial remittent fever being admitted to Hospital or whether all of
the cases are typhoid.

Wishing you much success in your work & a safe return home.

Sincerely yours,

Walter Reed
