 | November 20, 1952 Mrs. J. R. Kean 2804 N Street N.W. Washington, D. C. My dear Mrs. Kean: Whether or not you have acknowledged directly the invitation of your Cuban hosts to the affair of December 3, it occurred to me that you might wish to send, either directly or through me, a more formal expression of your interest and apprecia- tion of the honor being paid General Kean by having his name appear in bronze as one of those who contributed so much to the whole project. I must not ask you to write anything long or burden- some but I believe that the Cubans would greatly appreciate such a gesture on your part. Although this is the first time the Cuban Govern- ment has honored the Americans, it is a very good beginning and I am especially encouraged as I have just received a letter from Doctor Nogueira which says in effect that "the park is still Camp Lazear and the name of the building is still Building No. 1 or the fomites building. Up to now that has been the thinking of the patrons." The message could be sent either to Dr. Jose Andreu, El Ministro de Salubridad y Asistencia Social, Havana, to Dr. Pedro Nogueira, Marti 219, Marianao, Havana, or Dr. Cesar Rodriguez Exposito, Secretary, Marti 219, Marianao, or if you prefer, I will de- liver it in person. Sincerely, P. S. Hench, M.D. PSH:alc |
