1 Deane was one of five delegates added September 14 to the committee of accounts, which Congress reorganized September 25 to include one delegate from each colony. JCC, 2:250, 3:262.



2 A committee of four, appointed September 19 to draft a reply to General Schuyler's September 8 letter, reported a letter the following day, which was then approved for the president's signature. JCC, 2:255-56. See John Hancock to Philip Chiller, September 20,1775.
