Charles Thomson to To: the Board of War

    It is the desire of Congress that you order all the Officers belonging to Count Pulaski's legion & who are now in or near Philadelphia to repair with all possible expedition to & join their legion and that you make out the commissions and send them by express after them. Chas. Thomson secy.

1 This letter was drafted on the verso of "A List of all the Officers belonging to [Casimir Pulaski's] Legion," at the bottom of which Thomson appended the following note. "In Congress Oct. 5 1778. The above list approved and thereupon Resolved That commissions be made out for the officers in Count Pulaski's legion and dispatched to them by Express by the board of war." PCC, item 59, fols. 127-28. For Congress' resolve this date ordering Pulaski's legion "to proceed immediately to assist in the defence of Little Egg Harbour against the attack now made by the enemy on that port," see JCC, 12:983 84.
