I have consulted Mr. Sims and my brother in regard to the Slating at the University, in relation to which we confer'd on yesterday. We have no wish to make any money by this experimental, test job -- and are content to encounter the trouble, so that we Shall be repaid actual costs and charges, and paid the said value of the Slate, which, in the present State of the market we estimate at $8.50 &per;
We have not had time to ascertain the cost of carriage by the rivers, which of course will be much less than by land -- nor have we the means of ascertaining the price of tin or lead -- or the quantity, or the proportion of the metalic material to the Slate, which will be necessary to cover the Single Dormitory as proposed -- or which would be necessary were the job extended without reference therefore to the metalic portion of the work (as far as the cost of the material is concerned) we would consent to cover the proposed dormitory at $14.50 &per;&per;&per;
P.S. I intended to Say more explicitly that this job will be done at $14.50 &per;
