William H. Brockenbrough to John Hartwell Cocke
September 20, 1833

U: of Va. Septr. 20. 1833.
Dear Sir

I find the visitors referred my claim for renumeration, for certain buildings erected by my Father, & taken possession of by the University of Va. to the Executive Committee, of which you are a member; the facts relating to the buildings & their use to the University I detailed in my communication to the visitors -- The justice of granting the renumeration requested is so palpable that I presume it will be unnecessary to say another word in relation to it; & I have only to ask the Executive Committee to make Some order as Speedily as may be convenient, -- as my fathers estate is in need of all which can be justly claimed for it -- with Esteem & respect I remain your most obedt Servt

Wm. H. Brockenbrough

I send you by this mail a copy of Mr Madisons pamphlet on Religious Toleration, which I should have done before but I had mislaid them Yrs &c
