To J. H. Minor Careysburg Jan 29th [ 1858]

My dear Sir

    I have never had the chance to
write to you but I have try this time to do so. I
am well and also, my brother Hugh is the same
we hope this may find you in good health, father
and the rest [ of] the family is tolerable and they send
their love to you and all in your family and all
in the place. [If you] I have received 3 pair shoes
1 boots axe and 1 blade. If you pleased to send me
1 barrel press pork, two kegs of nails, no. 4 pen
ny no. 10 penny, two hoes grusbling 1 Box of leaf
tobacco, 7 yards Broad cloth, pisce of Blue driling
1 pisce Brown linen, 1 piece linen for shirts, cottons
for pants. bottons for shirts, 6 hanks of silk thread
7 hanks of flax thread, 1 piece coarse cotton, and
1 piece bleached cotton two Boxes of soap

This is the next list for Hugh Walker Jr.

    1 Barrel of press pork, 1 Barrel of flour, 1 barrel
of sugar, 1 Barrel of molasses, 1 sack of salt, 1
Box of soap two grubing hoes, 1 piece of driling
bleached cotton and unbleached cotton 1 piece of
each, 4 hanks of flax thread pants bottons shirts
bottons 9 yards of shirts linen. If you pleased
to excuse me for not writing a long letter as time
is very precious. Brother George says pleased to send
him 1 Axe.
