Mount Vernon, August 28, 1788.
Sir: The letter which you did me the honor to address to me on the 10th. of August accompanied by one from the Marquis de la Fayette, arrived by the last post. Whensoever you can make your Journey to Virginia convenient for yourself, I shall hope to have the pleasure of seeing you at Mount Vernon, and of testifying my regard for a gentleman who interests himself so much in the Wellfare and reputation of America.
