3. Stephen Crane's Table. This table belongs to the Stephen Crane Collection in the Clifton Waller Barrett Library of American Literature (at Alderman Library). Mr. Barrett acquired this table, but Ms. Freudenberg has not seen documentation showing the connection between Crane and this table. This round table, made of heavily-grained wood, has a scalloped edge to the top. The top comprises of wedge-shaped pieces of veneer which meet in the center (like a pie.) The veneer sections are carefully grain-matched. There is an apron, 3.5" deep, which is similarly scalloped. The table rests on a bulbous shaped pedestal, which rests on a tripod; the table moves on wheels.
