5. Square Table with Central Pedestal. [Origin unknown.] This veneered drop-leaf table has a folding two-piece top that can be rotated 90 degrees and opened up to form a larger surface. The pedestal has a compartment under the folded top. This piece is probably a card table which was meant to rest against the wall with its leaf down. The top has an large inlaid central panel and a border. On the table are a number of books which have been there a long time -- some are ms. ledgers and books relating to the Garnett family.
