Clip Art Library
I. BRIEF OVERVIEW OF STRUCTURE AND CONTENT:
The Clip Art Library contains approximately 3,000 pieces of clip art in several formats, including TIFF and PCX. The images are sorted by category into 77 different folders and are arranged alphabetically. The user can access these images in two different ways -- by opening them directly off of the CD in a given application, or by using the PowerAlbum to browse through thumbnail versions of the images and then copying selected images to the Windows clipboard.
II. STARTING UP THE CLIP ART LIBRARY:
- Place the Clip Art Library CD-ROM in the PC. You can now access the clip art directly from the CD-ROM drive (on the Dell PC, this is the F: drive).
- To activate the PowerAlbum feature, click on the Start button, select Programs, then select Power Up! from the list of applications. Select the PowerAlbum icon from the submenu. If you cannot find this icon, please ask a staff member for assistance.
III. USING THE CLIP ART LIBRARY:
- To open the images directly into a graphics or word-processing application, use the Open or Import function of your application, and navigate your way to the F: drive. Double-click on the Pc_art folder, and then on the Tiff or Pcx folder (depending on which file format you want to use). You'll see a folder for each clip art category; double-click on any folder to access the individual images.
- To access the images through the PowerAlbum, use the tabs at the right of the window to select the appropriate category, and use the arrows at the bottom of the album pages to navigate through each category. Simply click on an image to select it, then choose Copy from the Edit menu to copy that image to the Windows clipboard. You can then paste the image into any graphics or word-processing application.
IV. EXITING THE CLIP ART LIBRARY AND REMOVING THE CD-ROM:
If you are using the PowerAlbum feature, select Exit from the File menu to quit the program. You can then eject the CD-ROM by pressing the button below and to the right of the CD carrier. Please place the CD-ROM back in its case and return it to an Etext Center assistant.
