On the last ballot, Vermont, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee voted for Mr. Jefferson. New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, for Col. Burr. Delaware and South Carolina voted blanks. (Author's note.)
