William Wertenbaker: Faculty Resolutions
At a Meeting of the Faculty on the 20th of May 1828
Resolved, that the Proctor be directed to enquire and
ascertain whether the
house occupied by Phil a man of Colour at the foot of the hill
below the
University is not reputed to be a house of Evil fame, and if he
shall ascertain
upon information to be relied upon, that it is a house of bad fame,
and may be
injurious to the morals of the University, that the Proctor do lay
such information
before the Counsel for the University, and consult him to any legal
means which
ought to be pursued to get rid of such disorderly neighbours--
Resolved that the Proctor also report to the Faculty the
information which he
may be able to procure--and the proceedings which may be taken in
compliance
with the foregoing resolution
