The Essays in History Mayo Prize

The Essays in History Mayo Prize In honor of the late Professor Bernard Mayo of the Corcoran Department of History at the University of Virginia, the Mayo prize will be awarded, not necessarily annually, to a paper in American history by a University of Virginia graduate or undergraduate, selected for publication in Essays in History. The paper must be judged exceptional both for its historical contribution and literary merit. The author of the prize-winning work will be acknowledged both with a cash prize and recognition at the graduation ceremonies following the granting of the award.
