A Word of Welcome
by
The General Editors
Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Journal of Scriptural Reasoning (JSR),
an official electronic publication of the Society for Scriptural Reasoning
(SSR). Published biannually by the electronic text division of the University
of Virginia, the Journal of Scriptural Reasoning presents the work of the
Society for Scriptural Reasoning. The Society for Scriptural Reasoning, a
dialog between Jews, Christians and Muslims on the interpretation of Scripture
in the Abrahamic tradiions, meets each year at the American Academy of
Religion. Topics for the meetings of the society are published on the website
of the society. Individuals who wish to submit commentaries on major papers may
submit them for publication on the website by e-mailing them to the co-editors
and the managing editor of the journal. In addition to publishing the work of
the annual meeting, each year one issue of the Journal of Scriptural Reasoning
will be devoted to papers on special topics. Topics for these issues will be
announced on the website. Persons who would like to submit ideas for essays on
announced topics or ideas for topics may contact the convenor of the Society
for Scriptural Reasoning and co-editor of the Journal of Scriptural Reasoning,
Dr. Kurt Anders Richardson (kar@bu.edu). Other contact names, e-mails and all
current information are included of the Societies website:
http://www.depts.drew.edu/ssr/nationalssr/.
The Society of Scriptural Reasoning would like to thank Drew University for
hosting our website. The Journal of Scriptural Reasoning would, in addition,
like to thank David Seaman of the electronic text center of the University of
Virginia for his leadership in bringing this journal to publication.
