Radio Resources

This Religious Broadcasting site is in its early stages of development. As it moves toward maturity it will contain significant resources on religious broadcasting, and links to a much larger body of material. This "Radio Broadcasting Resources Page" will be the Index for materials available both on and off this page about radio broadcasters. A powerful search engine will also be installed on this page to assist you in locating specific materials.

We will be developing three broad classes of material:

  • Links to web pages devoted to specific broadcasters;
  • Analytical materials (both on and off this site); and
  • A forum that will discuss (and perhaps) debate issues relating to religious broadcasting

An Invitation to Help.

This page is a companion to the Religious Movements Page which is now approaching maturity and a Religious Freedom Page which is also in its early stages of development.

I teach a course in religious movements every semester and my students have contributed very significantly to the development of the Religious Movements Page. Since I don't teach any courses on religious broadcasting, I am hoping that readers of the Religious Broadcasting Page will help me with the development of this page by: (1) calling my attention to resources that are already on the Internet, (2) identify published and unpublished materials that should be candidates for a comprehensive page, and (3) volunteer to contribute to the development of the page by writing materials that are appropriate to the structure and tone of the page. I'll be posting more about the latter a little later.

From time to time, I'll also post requests for specific information. For example, the first posting (coming soon) will be a request for web-based information about early religious radio broadcasters. I have run across some material over the past three years. Unfortunately, I've not kept a good list of bookmarks, and I've not had much luck in pulling them up with search engines. I think there is probably a lot more material available than I have found to date.

If you would like to know a little bit more about me, you can access a brief biographical sketch. I wrote a book in 1981 with Chuck Swann entitled Prime Time Preachers: The Rising Power of Televangelism that is now available on this site. Over the next several months, I will hopefully be able to post all of my writings on religious broadcasting.
