Welcome to theUniversity of Virginia, the home of the Book Arts Press and site of the annual summer Rare Book School. This is my fifth visit to RBS (yes, I remember NYC) and RBS course offerings and experiences continue to surpass all my expectations.
This summer I enrolled in Course 46 - Introduction to the Internet . This document, or home page, was created as part of that course. Having only a vague idea of what a home page was, I had no knowledge of HTML. This is my first attempt at encoding information for the web. David Seaman , course instructor, says that catalogers actually do a better job with encoding because of their experiences with MARC. (Bully for me to be at the right place at the right time; it doesn't often happen.) I expect to use what I have learned at RBS at my institution, assuming when we acquire the proper equipment, software, and networking necessary to put this all to work before I forget it.
Because this home page is accompanied by a mug shot of me, I suppose it is appropriate to include some personal information about myself and my institution. This being said ...
