You abuse snuff ! Perhaps it is the final cause of the human nose.
Is the House of Commons to be re-constructed on the principle of a representation of interests, or of a delegation of men ? ... if on the latter, you can never, in reason, stop short of universal suffrage ; and in that case, I am sure that women have as good a right to vote as men.
Some music is above me ; most music is beneath me. I like Beethoven and Mozart--or else some of the aërial compositions of the elder Italians, as Palestrina and Carissimi. And I love Purcell.
The words in prose ought to express the intended meaning, and no more; if they attract attention to themselves, it is, in general, a fault. --July 3, 1833
