Web Development with XML: Design and Application
An ARL Workshop
June 24 - 28, 2002
University of Virginia
Charlottesville, VA
Readings and Resources
We will be using Erik Ray's Learning XML (O'Reilly,
2001) as our primary reference for this course. Each participant will
be given a copy of this book on the first day of class. As a
supplementary text, we recommend XML in a Nutshell
(O'Reilly, 2001); this book is a bit longer and covers advanced topics
like formatting objects, XLink, and programming models in greater
detail. We are also preparing handouts that summarize some of the
essentials of XML and its component technologies, and will distribute
these to the class as well. We've assembled a few links to web resources
we find particularly helpful;
although there is no "assigned reading" prior to the class please feel free to
explore these sites if you're interested.
